Chromy Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 19, 2026
Chromy does not collect, sell, transmit, or share personal information or browsing content.
Data Stored Locally
Chromy stores only the enabled or disabled state of Dark Mode and Reader Mode for each exact hostname. This data remains in Chrome's local extension storage on the user's device.
Website Access
Chromy asks for access to a website only when the user enables a mode there. Access is used solely to modify that page locally. When both modes are disabled for a website, Chromy removes its registered script and releases that origin permission.
Network Activity
Chromy has no backend, analytics, advertising, account system, or external API calls. Mozilla Readability is bundled locally and does not contact Mozilla.
Data Retention and Deletion
Site preferences remain until both modes are disabled, extension storage is cleared, or Chromy is uninstalled. Chrome removes extension data when the extension is uninstalled.
Changes
Material changes to this policy will be described in the extension's release notes and reflected by a new effective date.
